Can not create a connection to Oracle data source when report is processing

hello,

I am getting following error message when I try to view a report from reporting services. The report runs fine but after while i get the following error message. The error message will go away if i open the report manage from the server and run the report once. The report will run fine for a while from anywhere but afterwhile i get following error message.

An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Get Online Help

Cannot create a connection to data source 'OracleConnProc'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)

Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-12154

can someone please help me.

Most likely there is a problem with the file system permissions of your Oracle client installation on the report server machine. The file system permissions probably prevent the account configured to run the RS Web Service to load certain Oracle client configuration files.

Hello Robert,

I followed steps from your suggested article. I am still having same problem, but at the same time I could not verify my changes as suggested in the article.

Note To verify the configured account for the Reporting Services Web Service, you can open the RSReportServer.config file. You will find informaiton that is similar to the following:

<WebServiceAccount>NT Authority\NetworkService</WebServiceAccount>

I was thinking to reinstall oracle client on my reporting server, but please let me know if you have any other suggestion.

Can not connect to distributor because distributor_admin is not defined as remote login

Hello everyone,
We set up replication yesterday and it runs beautifully ... once. After
the first replication, we get the following error whenever we try to
access any of the replication admin screens, with the exception of the
"disable replication" screen:
Error 18483: Could not connect to server XXXX because
'distributor_admin' is not defined as a remote login at the server.
Our setup consists of two SQL Server machines, a primary server which
acts as a publisher and a secondary which acts as both distributor and
subscriber. Replication setup works great, as does the initial snapshot
copy. The transaction agent works perfectly as well.
The error goes away if I disable publishing on both machines and set it
up again, but then it breaks as soon as I complete the initial
replication.
Any help? This has everyone here stumped.

Can not change filter on model report - UPDATED 7th June

I have a very simple report based on a test model.

The report is filtered via a date field and runs ok.

If I try to change the filter I get the following error message:

Operation Failed

Short time pattern does not include hours and minutes

Does anyone know how I can correct this?

This only happens if I try to filter between two dates, a single date works correctly!

Is this error happening when you are editing report or when you are running this report? Can you save this report to report server and run it from Report Manager (http://rshost/reports)?

The report executes with no problems, I only get the error if I try to change the filter.

What is strange, I can get around the error by apply to separate date filters, one using Greater Than Or Equal and the other Less Than or Equal.

This gets around the problem but I would like to offer my end users the option of From and To as this is what the use in other parts of SSRS.

|||This is a known issue that will be fixed in SP2. Unfortunately the only way to avoid this error for now is to change your Windows regional settings to use a 12-hour clock.|||

i tried to change the format in the regional settings like you said but no changes. We use a german W2003 server... When i select a date field in the report builder filter, select a date from the datetime picker (22.06.2006) and try to save it with the ok button i get a message box saying 'no valid date'...?!?

Can i change anything in the model to solve the problem? Is this filter problem caused by SP1 (in this case we could think about setting up the SQL Server again)?

Can MSSQL7 runs on windows server 2003?

anyone has tried? please advice possible issues, workarounds
tksIt depends on the version of w2k3 you selected...

web edition will not run SQL server (and a lot of other applications)
