Can not find report server on the machine
I installed SQL Server 2005 which include report server but got this error: no report servers were found on this server when trying to configure report server. Am I missing something?
Thanks
Moving to SSRS forum.|||You need to check to see if IIS is up and running. What version is the OS? HTH|||
Go to Services and make sure SQL Server Reporting Services (MSSQLSERVER) service is started.

can not expand table group in internet explorer
I hope one of you encountered this problem..
I have grouped fields on one table object in some report.
In visual studio all is well i can expand the grouping fields to see thier
children and thier data.
The problem appears in internet explorer - under no sircumstances will this
group expand there!
I am left with the upper most grouping field and can not drill down to its
members!
I have tried both to define these aggregating fields by my self
and by the vs wizard . Also i tried the matrix component instead of the
table one.
One interesting fact is that once exported to excell, things return to
normal again..
I can expand groups and drill down correctly.
I have installed sp1 for reporting services and use ie6 on winxp
professional (both client and server).
If you did not encounter this before where will you start looking'
Thanks for your attention
ReaThe driil down capability requires Session cookies be enabled. Change the
Internet Explorer setting to "Allow Session Cookies" and it should work

Can not Depoloy Report
I am having a problem to deploy reports; every time I try to deploy a
report the build stage is finishing and I get this Error:
A connection could not be made to report server http://
localhost/reports/ pages/folder.aspx
However, when I try entering http:// localhost/reports/
pages/folder.aspx from the browser I can see the report manager
without any problem ( and without my reports...).
Does anyone knows has a solution?
Thank you.
Avi.You may not have permissions, can you use the Report Manager web interface
to show details on the folder and reports from there?

This will automatically make you part of the RS admin role. Also, if you
have by any chance messed around with IIS and turned anonymous access on
then you will be considered anonymous and hence not have the rights to
deploy.

Can not deploy to the report server.
Hello, when I try to deploy a report server project to the server, it gets me this popup; I put my username and password and it keeps me asking for user and password, (and I havent forgotten my username and password of couse)
http://www.avansoft.net/~levalencia/1.gif
When I go to the following url from my machine, not the server.
http://agamenon:90/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx
I can see all without problems.
My user is administrator on that machine too.
As the server also had sharepoint services I Created another website on another disk, and I configured with reporting services configuration tool to create reportserver and report virtual directories in that website.
WHen I saw those folders, they are empty, but they have 2 folders inside, reportserver and reports, those virtual folders point to something like this.
C:\Archivos de programa\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.3\Reporting Services\ReportServer
and this.
C:\Archivos de programa\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.3\Reporting Services\ReportManager
The only way I have to do, is to upload the reports manually but I hate that.
Please feel free to ask me anything.
reportserver.serverpath=http://localhost/reportserverreportviewer1.reportpath="/FileName/ReportName.rdl"
reportviewer1.serverreport.refresh;
can not deploy a report to ReportServer sub folders
I am trying to deploy my report to somthing like https://SERVERNAME/ReportServer/BrianHome/
but i keep getting an error saying
"A connection could not be made to the reportserver https://SERVERNAME/ReportServer/BrianHome/"
Then under aditional information i get:
"Client found response content type of " , but expected text/xml
The request failed with an empty responce. ( system.web.services)
Try setting your TargetServerURL to: https://SERVERNAME/ReportServer
and your TargetReportFolder to: /MainFolder/SubFolder
This works for me.
|||That works !!!!
I can not thank you enough!!!!

Can not create New Subscription
Hi, I have a report that I would like to send out to users automatically every day at 10AM. For some reason on reporting server under the report I would to email, I see 3 folders...Data Source, History & Subscription but I am not able to click on "New Subscription" option in order to create new subscription.
First I created "Shared Schedule" specifing day, time etc information. And then I am tring to create Subscription but the option is disabled.
Is there any service pack I am missing or I am following the wrong procedure.
Please advice.
- Payal
Hi,
Can make sure that you have provided an account to run the report and not use the Integrated Security? To be able to use Subscriptions, Reporting Services requires you to provide a fixed account.

Can not create a connection to Oracle data source when report is processing
hello,
I am getting following error message when I try to view a report from reporting services. The report runs fine but after while i get the following error message. The error message will go away if i open the report manage from the server and run the report once. The report will run fine for a while from anywhere but afterwhile i get following error message.
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Get Online Help
Cannot create a connection to data source 'OracleConnProc'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)
Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-12154
can someone please help me.
Most likely there is a problem with the file system permissions of your Oracle client installation on the report server machine. The file system permissions probably prevent the account configured to run the RS Web Service to load certain Oracle client configuration files.
Have you looked at the following KB article? http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;870668

|||
Hello Robert,
I followed steps from your suggested article. I am still having same problem, but at the same time I could not verify my changes as suggested in the article.
Note To verify the configured account for the Reporting Services Web Service, you can open the RSReportServer.config file. You will find informaiton that is similar to the following:
<WebServiceAccount>NT Authority\NetworkService</WebServiceAccount>
I was thinking to reinstall oracle client on my reporting server, but please let me know if you have any other suggestion.
Thanks,
Vimal

Rename the table? Create/use a view with a name that Crystal likes? Or
perhaps post on a newsgroup that is specific to crystal reports. You do
know that Seagate is no longer involved with Crystal Reports and hasn't been
for some years - that would indicate you are using an old (and perhaps
unsupported) version.

You can connect several ways

servername
servername\instance

Indeed, I am very interested in disvoering the answer. We had a developer in our organization with the same problem and could only connect by enterting http://localhost/reportserver. The DBA team is fine using servername\instance.
Is this a bug that will be resolved?

|||You should be able to connect using machine\instance. This method uses WMI to get the url for SOAP calls. Will you try opening the report server config tool? Can this tool connect to the machine? Are you specifying the same instance name listed in the config tool connection dialog?|||I have the same problem.
I can connect to the reporting service by using machine\instance in report server config tool.
But I cannot connect to the reporting service through managment studio by providing machine\instance, instead, if I use http://localhost/reportserver, I can connect to the report server through management studio.
I even tried to uninstall the report service, and reinstall it again. This problem still exists.
But the same thing does not happen on my colleague's machine.
I think it is better to look into this issue...
|||I managed to solve this problem...
If you want to use machine\instance to connect Management studio.
You need to make sure in rsreportservice.config, element <UrlRoot>http://localhost/reportserver</UrlRoot> is correctly configured. (You can test this by visit this url)
I guess, the machine\instance will eventurally be translated to the <UrlRoot>. If the <UrlRoot> is not correct, then you will not be able to use machine\instance to connect report service.

I had the same issue, what I did to fix is goto C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\Reporting Services and ensure that the ASPNET user has read, read&Execute and List Folder security permissions applied to all the subdirectories also ensure that you click the 'Advance' button when applying the permissions to ensure the security settings are applied to all child objects. Indeed, I am very interested in disvoering the answer. We had a developer in our organization with the same problem and could only connect by enterting http://localhost/reportserver. The DBA team is fine using servername\instance.
Is this a bug that will be resolved?

What are you passing in as the server name to Management Studio?
You can connect several ways
http://localhost/reportserver
servername
servername\instance
|||I passed both the servername and the servername\instance to the management studio.
My IIS and uses port 80. I can access Reportserver, report manager and report bilder thru the Internet. I just can not connect to Report server from Management studio.
I will try connecting to RS is Management studo using http://localhost/reportserver.

Indeed, I am very interested in disvoering the answer. We had a developer in our organization with the same problem and could only connect by enterting http://localhost/reportserver. The DBA team is fine using servername\instance.
Is this a bug that will be resolved?
thanks in advance,

If the <UrlRoot> is not correct, then you will not be able to use machine\instance to connect report service.

|||i tried visiting this URL. it says 503, service un available error. Please give me the solution.|||Something to try:
I had the same issue, what I did to fix is goto C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\Reporting Services and ensure that the ASPNET user has read, read&Execute and List Folder security permissions applied to all the subdirectories also ensure that you click the 'Advance' button when applying the permissions to ensure the security settings are applied to all child objects. During my installation for some reason it did not assign the proper permissions to the ASPNET user (aspnet_wp account). It couldn't even read the config files.
good luck

Can not change filter on model report - UPDATED 7th June
I have a very simple report based on a test model.
The report is filtered via a date field and runs ok.
If I try to change the filter I get the following error message:
Operation Failed
Short time pattern does not include hours and minutes
Does anyone know how I can correct this?
Regards
John
UPDATE
This only happens if I try to filter between two dates, a single date works correctly!
Can you please save report that fails to file and post it?|||Alexandre
This is the rdl for the failing report.

i tried to change the format in the regional settings like you said but no changes. We use a german W2003 server... When i select a date field in the report builder filter, select a date from the datetime picker (22.06.2006) and try to save it with the ok button i get a message box saying 'no valid date'...?!?
Can i change anything in the model to solve the problem? Is this filter problem caused by SP1 (in this case we could think about setting up the SQL Server again)?

Werner
