Can not connect to SQL Server from DMZ

We just moved to a new office. After setting up the servers, we found
that the apllication (including SQL Query Analyzer) in DMZ can not
access SQL server that is behind the firewall. We can ping the SQL
server from the server in DMZ and we also checked and confirmed port
1433 is open from the firewall. Could anyone help me out?
Thanks,Run the following test:
ISQL -Stcp:sqlnamehere -Uuserid -Ppassword -Q"select @.@.version"
Post the Error message.
Winsock Error messages should be returned if it fails.
Example:
11001 == Host Not Found
10060 == Connection Timeout
10061 == Connection Refused

Can I use SQL Server Management Studio Express to work with SQL Server Everywhere?

Can I use SQL Server Management Studio Express to work with this...SQL Server Everywhere?

I bought VS2005 Pro and installed everything, including the Developers edition of SQL Server 2005.
I would love to play with this and try converting old Access desktop applications.
Unfortunately I am unsure how to create and modify a new database for SQL Server Everywhere using SSMSE.

I have several tables that have a thousand records or so used for ‘Look-Up’ tables and really need a way to import those tables.

Working within VS2005 and manually creating tables just isn’t cutting the mustard here…

What can I do?

no, you cannot work with SQL Mobile databases in SQL Express Mgmt Studio. if you have Access databases to convert over, have a look at the tools at www.primeworks.pt

Darren

|||Thanks Darren,

Hopefully Microsoft will come out with a GUI tool to help create / manage / structure SQL Server Everywhere databases and be available to Developers at no additional cost.

Hey Rick and Darren,

Yes we are working on integrating SQL Server Everywhere with SQL Server Management Studio Express. However, I can not give out the timelines here.

Sweet news is not it!

Thanks,

I have published today a new (still "Beta") version of SQL CE Console (I will change this name in the future, it's a promise!) that allows you to open and edit SDF files on the desktop. You just have to install the Everywhere CTP (or the desktop SQL Mobile bits in VS 2005, if your license allows) and you are off. Get the beta from this link:

http://www.primeworks-mobile.com/News/SCC_1.2.500Beta.html

Enjoy!

BTW: Feature suggestions are welcome!

Hello Guys,

1) Think its important to hae SQL Server Management Studio Express to work with SQL Server Everywhere.

2) In the meantime, can anyone advise how to convert an existing SQL Server express database to a SQL Server Everywhere?

Check my site for database conversion tools:

Can I move SQL Server to a new machine (including master/model/msd

Hi
We are moving a SQLServer environment from one machine to another. (SQL2000
sp3a)
Can I
- Install SQLServer on the new machine
- backup all databases including master, model , msdb + all user databases
on the source machine
- restore all databases (including mast , model, msdb + user databases) on
the destination machine
and expect SQL server to work as it did on my source machine? (Note in my
case the instance name will be different on the destination machine since the
instance name was the same as the machine name in the orig source :
npboffsql2\npboffsql2
Or do I need to follow article 314546 (i.e. only move user databases and
rebuild the missing logins etc?)
Tia,
Flora
Hi Flora
You could follow http://support.microsoft.com/kb/224071/
If you wish to rename the server itself then you can follow
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;303774
