Can I use SQL Server Management Studio Express to work with SQL Server Everywhere?

Can I use SQL Server Management Studio Express to work with this...SQL Server Everywhere?

I bought VS2005 Pro and installed everything, including the Developers edition of SQL Server 2005.
I would love to play with this and try converting old Access desktop applications.
Unfortunately I am unsure how to create and modify a new database for SQL Server Everywhere using SSMSE.

I have several tables that have a thousand records or so used for ‘Look-Up’ tables and really need a way to import those tables.

Working within VS2005 and manually creating tables just isn’t cutting the mustard here…

What can I do?

no, you cannot work with SQL Mobile databases in SQL Express Mgmt Studio. if you have Access databases to convert over, have a look at the tools at www.primeworks.pt

|||Thanks Darren,

Hopefully Microsoft will come out with a GUI tool to help create / manage / structure SQL Server Everywhere databases and be available to Developers at no additional cost.

Hey Rick and Darren,

Yes we are working on integrating SQL Server Everywhere with SQL Server Management Studio Express. However, I can not give out the timelines here.

Sweet news is not it!

Thanks,

I have published today a new (still "Beta") version of SQL CE Console (I will change this name in the future, it's a promise!) that allows you to open and edit SDF files on the desktop. You just have to install the Everywhere CTP (or the desktop SQL Mobile bits in VS 2005, if your license allows) and you are off. Get the beta from this link:

Enjoy!

BTW: Feature suggestions are welcome!

Hello Guys,

1) Think its important to hae SQL Server Management Studio Express to work with SQL Server Everywhere.

2) In the meantime, can anyone advise how to convert an existing SQL Server express database to a SQL Server Everywhere?
