Can I run SQL 2000 with a SQL 2005 license/CALs

We deploy our application on MS-SQL and have not completed testing on SQL2005.
It seems that new customers will be forced to buy SQL 2005 as most suppliers
no longer sell SQL 2000. Will they be allowed to install and run SQL 2000 if
they have bought SQL 2005 and then upgrade at a later date when we've

Whenever possible please post enough code to reproduce your problem.
Including CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements usually helps.
State what version of SQL Server you are using and specify the content
of any error messages.
